Blankespoor Resigns as Head Women’s Basketball Coach
WILMINGTON, Ohio – After five seasons with the Wilmington College Quakers women’s basketball program, and the last three seasons as the head coach, Janel Blankespoor has announced her resignation to spend more time with her family. In her three seasons as the head coach, Blankespoor led the Quaker women to an overall record of 29-32 and an Ohio Athletic Conference record of 17-29 making the OAC tournament in each of her three years. She coached five All-OAC players and 14 OAC All-Academic student-athletes.

Mike Madsen Joins Women's Basketball Coaching Staff
Madsen comes to Wilmington from nearby Williamsburg High School where he’s worked with both Wildcat basketball programs for over a decade. For the last fsix seasons, he’s led the girls’ varsity program to five Southern Buckeye Academic & Athletic Conference (SBAAC) championships as well as three sectional titles and the program’s first district championship in 2018. Madsen compiled a 104-19 record during that stretch.

Jerry Scheve Announces Retirement After 30-Year Career as Head Women's Basketball Coach
Scheve guided Wilmington to 518 career victories in his three decades leading the program and departs as one of the winningest coaches in NCAA Division III history as well as collegiately in the state of Ohio. He is one of just over 30 coaches to have crossed the 500-victory plateau. A member of the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame, Scheve led the Quakers to the 2004 national championship, the school’s only team national title to date.

McKayla Binkley Earns OAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Honors
The Lynchburg-Clay alumna averaged an astounding 33.0 points per game on 24-of-41 (58.5%) as well as making 10-of-19 (52.6 percent) from distance in helping the Fightin’ Quakers to a sweep of Heidelberg University over the weekend. Binkley also grabbed 6.5 rebounds per game and dished 3.5 assists per contest.

OAC Postpones Athletic Competition Through the Rest of the 2020 Calendar Year
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), the league Wilmington College has participated in collegiate athletics since the turn of the century, announced on Friday its plans to postpone all intercollegiate athletic competition through the calendar year due to safety concerns amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The conference is committed to collaboration in 2021 to allow the affected sports to compete safely in 2021.
