Moyer named OAC Player of the Week

AUSTINTOWN – Sophomore post player Mary Moyer has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced today (November 24, 2014).

Moyer (Martinsville, OH/Clinton-Massie) had her finest moments in Wilmington green, earning the Fred Raizk Memorial Tournament MVP. She is the first women's basketball player to pick up the league's weekly honor since LeAnn Topp earned the laurel late January 2013.

"Mary was a real force in the middle for us this weekend, and is very deserving of this honor," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve.

In the win over Penn State-Behrend Friday, the 5-10 converted guard tallied her Wilmington career best of 18 points, along with four rebounds, two assists and a block. She added to her weekend by scoring a collegiate career-high of 27 points, and a career-high 10 rebounds for her first career double-double.

For the first time since 2008, the Fightin' Quakers won both the Tip-Off and Fred Raizk Tournaments.

Wilmington (4-0) has nine more days off before returning to the hardwood Wednesday, December 3, hosting Capital University in Ohio Athletic Conference action.
