Women's Basketball Heads to Heidelberg Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team hits the road to Heidelberg University in search of revenge in a 3 p.m. Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest on Saturday.

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. The Quakers are an even 9-9 on the season and 4-7 in conference play after falling to Ohio Northern University 64-55 at Hermann Court on Wednesday. The Student Princes stand at 8-10 on the season and are also 4-7 in the OAC after a 78-54 loss at Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday.

The Coaches: Jerry Scheve is in his 29th season as head coach of the Wilmington women's basketball program. Scheve, who guided the Quakers to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2004, recently won his 500th career game. Wilmington has claimed seven regular season conference championships under his guidance. Morgan Harrigan is in her sixth season as head coach of the Student Princes. The 2009 Heidelberg alumna has a career record of 46-85.

The Players: McKayla Binkley leads Wilmington offensively scoring at 13.3 points per game while a trio of Quakers – Kennedy Lewis, Mackenzie Campbell and Kelly Noll – all average over 10 points per game. Binkley and Noll both grab 4.7 rebounds per game, good for second on the time behind Faith Teaford's 7.3 boards per contest. Lewis leads the OAC in assists per game at 4.2. Heidelberg is led by a trio of Student Princes – Maddy Crawford, Alyssa Riley and Brooke Beamer – who all score between 12-15 points per game. Crawford, who leads the bunch at 13.4 points per game, averages a double-double with 11.4 rebounds a contest.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 68.8, Heidelberg 67.1; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 69.4, Heidelberg 70.6; field goal percentage – Wilmington 41.1, Heidelberg 37.8; three-point percentage – Wilmington 35.3, Heidelberg 33.0; free throw percentage – Wilmington 72.7, Heidelberg 73.8; rebounds per game – Wilmington 40.3, Heidelberg 39.9; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.93, Heidelberg 0.59.

Recent History: Wilmington is 35-5 against Heidelberg since joining the OAC prior to the 2000-01 season. The Student Princes did claim a win in the first meeting between the two squads this season, however, winning 74-70 at Hermann Court on Dec. 1, 2018.
