Women's Hoops falls despite career-high from Kivell

BEXLEY – The Wilmington College women's team fell to Capital Wednesday, 75-70, in Ohio Athletic Conference action at the Capital Center.

"You have to give credit to Capital," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "They fought adversity, and played well all night long. They beat us to the basketball and shot the ball extremely well. We simply didn't play well, and we didn't make up for it by playing hard."

Despite the perceived struggles, the Fightin' Quakers – following a three-pointer from sophomore Hannah Haeseker (Germantown, OH/Valley View) – trailed by just two points with five minutes remaining. However, the Crusaders countered by scoring 10 of the next 11 points.

Freshman Ellie Kivell (Hamilton, OH/Lakota West) tallied a career-high 24 points, while dishing out a team-high four assists. Senior Courtney Tucker (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) added 19 points with a team-high 11 rebounds for her second career double-double.

Capital scored the game's first 10 points and opened up a double-digit lead midway through the first half. Every time Wilmington seemingly made a run, the Crusaders answered with a basket – holding the team at bay.

The Fightin' Quakers trimmed their deficit to six at half, and the lead hovered around six until CU was able to push it to 10 midway through the second half.

Sophomore Mary Moyer (Martinsville, OH/Clinton-Massie) added nine points and seven rebounds.
