WOMEN'S PREVIEW: Ohio Northern

The last time Wilmington and Ohio Northern met on the hardwood, ONU suffered their last loss of the season. Since then, the Polar Bears have won seven straight.

"They're as good as anybody in our league," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "They haven't lost since they lost to us here. They are surely going to be ready for us; it's their Senior Day. We are going to have to bring the senior enthusiasm we had on Saturday."

With the winning streak, Ohio Northern has vaulted itself into the regular season championship conversation. They are tied with Capital for third place, one game behind league leaders John Carroll and Baldwin Wallace.

Post players, junior Jordan Kimes and senior Cenzie Yoder, are the only players averaging double figures for the Polar Bears. Kimes is third in the league in both scoring (14.7) and rebounding (8.4). She is the most efficient player in the league, making 59.1 percent of her shots. Kimes isn't just an inside threat, she is second on the team in three-point percentage (51.4 percent).

Yoder, a two-time all-league performer, is averaging 11.0 points and 6.6 rebounds – both good for second on the team. Her ability to pass out of the post is highlighted by the fact she leads the team with 72 assists.

"Most of what they do are built around Kimes and Yoder," said Scheve. "They are both outstanding players. Those two are certainly the primary players you have to handle."

Athletic sophomore guards Carly Thomas and Brooke Espenschied have taken full advantage of team focusing on slowing down the paint players. Thomas is third on the team with 8.6 points and Espenschied is fourth with 7.2

Senior guard Sara Kocian leads the team with 56 three-point attempts, making a team-high 51.8 percent.

Wilmington must rebound from Saturday's crushing loss in which the Fightin' Quakers lost a 22-point lead.

"It's a tough game to lose," said Scheve. "Hopefully we learned we could play with the best in the league, and if we bring that attitude we will be fine.
