WOMEN'S PREVIEW: Baldwin Wallace

It's no secret to why Saturday's opponent, Baldwin Wallace, has been successful this season.

"They are really playing extremely hard," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "They are probably not the most talented BW team in the last many years, but they make up for it with their effort and they really play well together. They outwork teams; they are all solid players. They have good players who are outworking people."

The Yellow Jackets held the Wilmington College women's basketball team to its lowest point total of the school's NCAA era in the last meeting, beating the Fightin' Quakers, 55-29, in early December. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. Saturday at Fred Raizk Arena in Hermann Court.

Baldwin Wallace, which is one-game behind Ohio Northern for the top seed, has one player – Audrey Smolik - averaging double figures with 12.0 points per game. She is taking more than 10 shots per contest and shooting 41.0 percent from the field. Her 7.0 points per game also leads the team.

"Smolik is an outstanding player," said Scheve. "She is well-rounded, and does everything on both ends of the floor. She is the player you have to be most concerned with."

Clara Lemmon is second on the team in points (8.4) and rebounds (6.5), and Sydney Clark is third in both categories with 8.3 points and 4.2 rebounds.
