Women's Basketball Defeated by Denison Tuesday Night

(GRANVILLE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's basketball team lost to Denison University Tuesday night, 76-55. The Quakers fall to 1-4 overall this season.

Wilmington jumped out to a 17-8 lead in the first quarter. Cassidy Lovett had nine points during this run. The Quakers held a 20-13 lead after the first period.

The Quakers continued to hold a steady lead in the second quarter, leading 28-22 with 6:04 remaining in the first half. However, an 11-0 run changed the momentum of the game and gave the Big Red a 33-28 lead with 1:49 left in the second quarter. Denison would hold a 35-30 lead at the break.

Denison continued to extend their advantage early in the third quarter, going up by 14 at 45-31. The Quakers hung tough, and kept themselves within striking distance, heading into the final period down by 10 at 53-43. Wilmington was outscored 23-12 in the last quarter to fall 76-55.

  • Cassidy Lovett scored a career-high 21 points in the game, while also stealing three passes, grabbing two rebounds, and dishing out two assists.
  • ZahKyria Walker scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds.
  • Stephanie Altstaetter had seven points and six rebounds.

The Quakers next game will begin their Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) schedule when they play at home next Wednesday, November 29th against the visiting Otterbein University Cardinals at 7:00 P.M. on Hermann Court.
