(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's basketball team took a 21-17 lead after the first quarter of Wednesday night's Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest against the visiting Muskingum University Fighting Muskies. However, The Muskies outscored Wilmington 20-7 in the second quarter and never looked back, winning the game 69-56. Stephanie Altstaetter led Wilmington with 21 points while ZahKyria Walker scored 13 for the Quakers. Wilmington is now 5-16 overall this season and 3-12 in the OAC.

The first quarter started off great for the Quakers, as three-pointers from Bailey Eddleman and Stephanie Altstaetter combined with a ZahKyria Walker jumper gave them an 8-2 lead just over three minutes into the game. A Natalie Rupp three later in the quarter gave the Quakers an 18-10 advantage. The Muskies clawed back to a 21-17 deficit after one period. Wilmington was on fire in the quarter, shooting 7-14 (50%) from the field and 4-8 (50%) from beyond the arc.

However, the second quarter was a different story for Wilmington. They shot just 16.7% from the field, while the Muskies shot 60% and outscored them 20-7. Muskingum took a 37-28 lead at the halftime break.

The Quakers began the third quarter looking to make a comeback. They outscored the Muskies 11-6 to begin the period and cut the lead down to 43-39 after a great hustle play from Cassidy Lovett. She got an offensive rebound off a missed three pointer and put it back up for the layup and was fouled but missed the free throw. The Muskies then took back all the momentum throughout the rest of the quarter, ending the period on a 13-2 run to take a 56-41 advantage into the fourth.

Wilmington cut the lead down to nine on one occasion in the fourth quarter but wouldn't come any closer in the 69-56 defeat.
