15 named Winter Academic OAC

AUSTINTOWN – The Ohio Athletic Conference named 106 student-athletes to its 2013-14 Winter Academic All-OAC list, the league announced today. Wilmington College had 15 student-athletes presented on the list.

The award winners must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50.

The women’s swimming team led the way with seven of the 15 athletes, led by senior Rebecca Scherer (Circleville, OH/Circleville; 4.0, Math Education). Joining Scherer were senior Leslie Stiffler (Prospect, OH/Elgin; 3.93, Animal Science), senior Victoria Burcham (Urbana, OH/Urbana; 3.91, Business Administration), senior Lisa Fetters (Hamilton, OH/Badin; 3.82, Education), junior Addie Roberts (Franklin, OH/Franklin; 3.71, Athletic Training), sophomore Rachel Drake (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield; 3.85, Athletic Training) and sophomore Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana; 3.62, Ag Business/Business Administration).

Seniors Haley Howard (Uhrichsville, OH/New Philadelphia; 3.76, Business Administration/Marketing) and Bethany Ahrens (Versailles, OH/Versailles; 3.62/Business Administration/Finance)  were joined by sophomore Kirsten Glick (Arcadia, OH/Arcadia; 3.60, Athletic Training) to represent the women’s basketball team.

Representing the men’s swimming team were senior Corbin Hellwarth (Celina, OH/Parkway; 3.99, Business Administration), sophomore David Hawk (Edison, OH/Mount Gilead; 3.79, Chemistry) and sophomore Eric Belash (Canton, OH/Glen Oak; 3.69, Athletic Training).

Senior Ben McGriff (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek; 3.56, Business Administration/Sport Management) was the lone member from the men’s basketball team.
