(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's basketball team played their final home game of the 2023-24 season at Fred Raizk Arena in Hermann Court Wednesday night against the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears. They played well in the first quarter, but a tough second quarter set them back and they couldn't play themselves back into the game in the loss. The team was led by 19 points from freshman Stephanie Altstaetter. They are now 5-18 overall this season and 3-14 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) heading into their final game of the season at Heidelberg University Saturday.

The Quakers jumped out to an 11-4 lead over Ohio Northern during the first five minutes of play and forced a Polar Bear timeout. Eight of the Quakers points came from Altstaetter. The Polar Bears settled into the game out of the timeout though and used a 10-2 run to snag a 14-13 lead with 2:07 remaining in the quarter. The Quakers battled back though and took an 18-16 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was all Ohio Northern as they held Wilmington to seven points and held a 36-25 lead heading into the locker room at the half. The third quarter saw the Polar Bears storm to a 16-point 48-32 advantage with 4:08 remaining in the period. The lead would be 54-37 heading into the final quarter.
