WILMINGTON, OH - The Wilmington College women's basketball team played a great first and third quarter of basketball in a victory over the Mount Union Purple Raiders.

The Quakers (5-1(1-0)) played two polar opposite quarters in the first half of basketball this afternoon.  In the first quarter, Wilmington was able to lead the way with scoring 30 points in the quarter while only letting up 16.  Mount Union came firing back as they were able to put up 20 points against Wilmington, while only allowing 10 points scored. A trio of Quakers led the way in the first half scoring.  Mackenzie Cambell, Savannah Hooper, and Faith Teaford all scored seven points each on what was a balanced scoring attack in the first half. Wilmington shot 48.3% in the first half that gave them a 40-36 lead.

Wilmington came out quick in the second half going on a 7-3 scoring run increasing the lead 47-39 with 6:18 left to go in the third quarter. The biggest lead in the half came at the 0:41 mark in the third quarter with Wilmington going up as much as 12 points.  From that point on Mount Union continued to chip away at the 12 point deficit, but was ultimately unable to come back in the fourth quarter.

Leading the way in the scoring column for the Quakers was Faith Teaford with a career-high 20 points, Savannah Hooper with a season-high 18 points, and Mackenzie Cambell with 13 points. Emily Harman led the way for the Quakers in the rebound column pulling down a season-high 13 boards.

Wilmington shot 41.7% from the field, 56.3% from the three-point arc, and 84.2% from the free throw line. Wilmington totaled 16 assists and led in the rebounding category 41-39.  Wilmington amounted six steals while forcing 13 Mount Union turnovers.

Wilmington (5-1(1-0)) continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play by hosting Ohio Northern at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6th.
