@DubC_Swimming leads Academic contingent

AUSTINTOWN – The Wilmington College swimming program represented 80 percent of the school’s representation on the 2016 Winter Academic All-OAC, the league announced today.

Sophomore Samantha Glish (Louisville, KY/Ballard; mathematics) was the only Wilmington College student-athlete, and one of only eight across the conference, to achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Glish led the women’s swimming team, who pulled in a school-high seven honorees. She was joined by senior Haley Rowland (Fairborn, OH/Xenia Christian; Education, 3.94), junior Elyse Spraul (Cincinnati, OH/Mount Notre Dame; Business Administration, 3.94), senior Rachel Drake (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield; Athletic Training, 3.81), senior Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana; Agriculture/Economics, 3.71), junior Sarah Holtsclaw (Zanesville, OH/St. Clairsville; Agriculture/Political Science, 3.69) and senior Colleen Rueppel (Middlebury, VT/Manheim Twp (PA)); Education Studies, 3.56).

The men’s swimming team added five members to the academic team, led by senior Eric Balash (Canton, OH/Glen Oak; Athletic Training, 3.82). The other honorees were senior David Hawk (Edison, OH/Mount Gilead; Chemistry, 3.67), sophomore Ben Ball (Gallipolis, OH/Gallia Academy; Agriculture, 3.61), junior Cody Nash (Fresno, CA/Kingsbury; Agriculture, 3.60) and senior Dylan Hammond (Willoughby, OH/North; Education Studies/History, 3.57).

Senior Chris Jackson (Ostrander, OH/Buckeye Valley; Sport Management, 3.51) was the lone men’s basketball representative, while junior Mary Moyer (Martinsville, OH/Clinton-Massie; Sport Management, 3.60) and sophomore Savannah Hooper (Leesburg, OH/Wilmington; Biology, 3.92) represented women’s basketball.

The award winners must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have a cumulative grade-point- average of at least 3.50.
