Season ends at Capital for LQB

BEXLEY – With the game knotted at 54, Capital went on a pivotal 12-2 run to open up a double-figure lead and the Wilmington College women's basketball team fell, 76-65, and had their season come to an end Tuesday at the Capital Center in the second round of the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.

It's the second straight year Wilmington had its season come to an end at Capital. It was the final game in the careers of Courtney Tucker (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore), Spencer Robles (Clyde, OH/Clyde) and Kirsten Glick (Arcadia, OH/Arcadia).

"I'm proud of all of seniors," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "Courtney had a great senior season. I thought Spencer and Kirsten did as well. I couldn't ask for any more out of them tonight. I am proud of each one of them. They were good representatives of our basketball program."

The game-deciding spurt came on the heels of a call that infuriated the Capital bench and got those raucous purple-cladded fans into the game.

In a game of runs, unfortunately for Wilmington, the Crusaders went on the final march.

Tucker finished with 16 points and three rebounds, while Glick reached double figures for just the third time this season with 10 points and four rebounds. For the second consecutive night, sophomore Hannah Haeseker (Germantown, OH/Valley View) was great on the glass. The forward pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds to go along with nine points.

"I thought the last two games of the season, were her best games," said Scheve.

Wilmington shot just 29.2 percent (16-of-57) from the field, while the Crusaders converted 45.5 percent (25-of-55) of their shots.

Capital was led by Nina Napolitano, who scored 18 of her game-high 25 points in the second half.

"The biggest key of the game was our inability to stop (Napolitano)," said Scheve. "We just couldn't seem to find a way to stop her from the first basket to the last basket."

Wilmington ends its season 15-12 overall.
