Coming off a stretch in which they played three games in five days, the Wilmington College women's basketball team welcomed a break in game action. Now the break is over and WC is ready to tackle the rest of their Ohio Athletic Conference schedule. 

The Lady Quakers will travel to Baldwin-Wallace (3-3 overall, 0-2 OAC) 3 p.m. Saturday. The Yellow Jackets' record could be a little bit deceiving as their OAC losses are to No. 17 Ohio Northern (7-1) and Capital (6-2). It will also be BW's home opener.

"Baldwin-Wallace is a very, very talented team," said WC head coach Jerry Scheve. "They are very well-coached team, and we will have to be at our best. With most teams you can pick one or two things you have to stop. But they have 10 to 15 players that get significant minutes and they all bring different skills to the court. Rather than concentrate on stopping certain players, we have to concentrate on being solid defensively as a team."

Much like the Lady Quakers, BW doesn't have a single player averaging more than 10 points per game. As a team, the Yellow Jackets are averaging 60.7 points per game, while WC is scoring at a clip of 59.0 ppg.

Freshman forward Alissa Munro is coming off the bench to lead the team with 9.0 points per game, followed by junior guard Jessica Larson at 8.2 ppg.

While neither team is shooting the ball well from the field, Wilmington makes up for by hitting the offensive glass with abandon. The Lady Quakers are second in the OAC with 15.67 offensive rebounds and third in rebounding margin at 6.8. Winning the rebounding battle has been key for WC this season as they are 6-0 when they outrebound an opponent.

However, Scheve doesn't want to rely solely on the teams' ability to rebound to compensate for their lack of scoring.

"We definitely have to score more points," he said. "We have shown progress and we are going to be better."

Senior Brianna Peters (Alexandria, KY/Campbell County) comes into Saturday's game leading the team with 9.7 points per game, while sophomore Spencer Robles (Clyde, OH/Clyde) is averaging 8.7 ppg for the Lady Quakers.

Wilmington is getting solid play from its point guard position as junior Haley Howard (Uhrichsville, OH/New Philadelphia) and senior Shelby Kies (Maineville, OH/Kings) are provided stability in running the offense.
