Women's Basketball Opens Final Week of Regular Season at Capital on Wednesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team opens the final week of the 2017-18 regular season at Capital University on Wednesday. The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contest is slated to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Capital. The Fightin' Quakers are 11-12 overall and 6-10 in OAC play after an 81-73 loss to Marietta College on Saturday. The Crusaders are 12-11 overall and an even 8-8 in conference. Capital most recently fell to Baldwin Wallace University 77-51.

The Coaches: Jerry Scheve is in his 28th season as head coach of the Wilmington women's basketball program. Scheve, who guided the Quakers to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2004, has amassed over 450 career victories. Dixie Jeffers has been Capital's head women's basketball coach since the 1986-87 season. She led the Crusaders to consecutive national championships 1994 and 1995.

The Players: Mackenzie Campbell is the lone Quaker to average double figures in scoring at 14.0 points per game while also tying with Emily Harman to lead the team in rebounds per game (7.0) and tying with Savannah Hooper to dish out 2.7 assists per game. Harman, Hooper and Hannah Binkley all score over six points per game. Elle Folan and Erin Risner both score 11.2 points per game to lead the Crusaders' offense. Regan Stonerock grabs a team-high eight rebounds per contest.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 65.1, Capital 60.0; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 67.6, Capital 59.2; field goal percentage – Wilmington 40.0, Capital 40.3; three-point percentage – Wilmington 31.4, Capital 34.2; free throw percentage – Wilmington 74.1, Capital 70.7; rebounds per game – Wilmington 42.5, Capital 35.3; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.72, Capital  0.66.

First Time Around: Capital used a big second half to pull away and defeat Wilmington 61-35 at Fred Raizk Arena on Jan. 3.

OAC Tournament: Wilmington has already clinched a berth in the OAC Tournament, which begins next week. The Quakers currently sit in seventh place and will clinch the No. 7 seed with a win of a John Carroll University loss this week.
