WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team opens its 2018-19 campaign by hosting the 27th annual Damon's/Hampton Inn Tip-Off Classic at Hermann Court this weekend.

The Schedule: Wilmington will face Grove City College (Pennsylvania) on Friday at 6:30 p.m. as well as Kenyon College on Sunday at 2 p.m. Grove City and Kenyon will compete in a neutral site contest at Hermann Court on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington, Grove City and Kenyon. The Damon's/Hampton Inn Tip-Off Classic will be the Fightin' Quakers' first games of the season. Wilmington finished 11-15 and qualified for its 18th consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament last season. The Wolverines, who finished 18-10 on the year in 2017-18, opened this season with an 89-40 victory over the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg on Tuesday. The Ladies opened their season with an 88-67 victory over the College of Wooster on Wednesday.

The Coaches: Jerry Scheve is in his 29th season as head coach of the Wilmington women's basketball program. Scheve, who guided the Quakers to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2004, has amassed over 450 career victories. Chelle Fuss has been Grove City's women's basketball coach for five seasons while Suzanne Helfant is at the helm of Kenyon's program for the 24th season.

The Players: Mackenzie Campbell did it all for Wilmington last season, leading the Quakers in points per game (14.1), rebounds per game (6.8) and assists per game (2.8). Savannah Hooper also returns for her final year of eligibility after averaging 8.4 points and 2.8 assists per game in 2017-18. Kate Balcom scored a team-high 24 points for Grove City in its season-opening victory while Sedona Campbell turned in a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Paige Matijasich and Jessica Gerber combined to score 37 points in Kenyon's win over Wooster.
