After Wednesday's game with Capital, the Wilmington College women's basketball team will face teams they went a collective 1-4 against in the first part of the Ohio Athletic Conference play. Beating Capital for a second time this season won't be a cakewalk either. In the first meeting, Wilmington built a 19-point lead, and had to win the game in overtime.

"They are a very good basketball team, and I think the pass the ball better than anyone we play," said head coach Jerry Scheve. "Their passing enables them to get good shots."

Keeping second-leading scorer Jamie Caton on the court could be key for the Crusaders. They are 1-3 in the four games she has fouled out, including Wilmington's first win on December 19th. Caton, who is averaging 11.1 points per game, tallied 16 points in 18 minutes on 7-of-13 shooting with five rebounds. She scored 10 of her 16 points in the second half as Capital mounted its comeback, but was forced to watch the entire overtime session after fouling out.

"She is a hard player for us to guard," said Scheve. "She is hard player for every to guard. She presents a lot of problems because she gets the ball the basket better than anyone and has the strength to finish."

Senior Stacy Timmerman is leading the Crusaders in scoring with 13.3 points per game and 6.2 rebounds, but she has upped her averaged to 14.9 points and 6.3 boards in OAC action. Junior Cookie Geroski adds 10.5 points per game and a team-high 53 assists for Capital.

Wilmington has three players averaging more than eight points per game, led by senior Brianna Peters (Alexandria, KY/Campbell County). The forward is scoring 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds. Classmate LeAnn Topp (New Bremen, OH/New Bremen) adds 8.6 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds, while sophomore sharpshooter Spencer Robles (Clyde, OH/Clyde) is added 8.3 points with a team-high 37 three-pointers.

However, Robles has struggled in her last four games. She is shooting just 25 percent from beyond the arc and has scored just 21 points in those contests. Despite her slump, the Lady Quakers are 3-1 in the last four games. As the schedules toughens, Robles shooting prowess would go a long way in helping WC avenge some earlier losses.
