Crestview Hills, KY - Women's basketball opened up the Julie Costello Memorial Classic against St. Mary's College with a victory 78-50.
STATS LEADERS
Junior Mackenzie Campbell (Cincinnati, OH/ Turpin) led the Quakers in scoring with 22 points on 10-16 shooting. Campbell added six rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the game.
Senior Emily Harman (Versailles, OH/ Versailles) led the way for the Quakers in the rebounding column with seven total rebounds, five of them being defensive.
Senior Savannah Hooper (Leesburg, OH Wilmington) and freshman Maddie Snider (Soutsville, OH Amanda Clearcreek) both chipped in with 11 points each.
TURNING POINT
Wilmington was in the lead 18-13 with 9:11 to go in the second quarter when the Quakers sparked a 12-0 run to put them up 30-13 with 4:36 left in the second quarter.
FIRST-HALF SUMMARY
The first half Quakers shot an outstanding 56.7% from the field outscoring the Lions 39-17. The Quakers had a balanced scoring attack and were successful moving the ball around resulting in high percentage shots for the offense. Defensively Wilmington held St. Mary's College to shooting 29.2% from the field and a staggering 0% from the three-point line. Campbell was able to score 13 of her 22 points in the first half.
SECOND-HALF SUMMARY
Wilmington went back and forth in the second half coasting with a double-digit lead for a majority of the period. In the fourth quarter, Wilmington went on another significant scoring run 11-4 half-way through the period to seal the victory with a 70-39 lead with 4:09 left in the fourth quarter. The Quakers were led by ten different players that were able to get into the scoring column during the second half.
