Mike Madsen Joins Women's Basketball Coaching Staff

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Wilmington College Head Women's Basketball Coach Janel Blankespoor has announced the hiring of Mike Madsen as an assistant coach with the program.

Madsen comes to Wilmington from nearby Williamsburg High School where he's worked with both Wildcat basketball programs for over a decade. For the last six seasons, he's led the girls' varsity program to five Southern Buckeye Academic & Athletic Conference (SBAAC) championships as well as three sectional titles and the program's first district championship in 2018. Madsen compiled a 104-19 record during that stretch.

Alongside being a high school basketball coach, Madsen spent nearly three decades with the Indian Hill Rangers Police Department from 1990-2019. He is also a United States Army Veteran.

Madsen graduated from the University of Cincinnati's College of Education in 1989 and earned a master's degree in criminal science from UC in 2016.

Wilmington's 2021-22 season is scheduled to begin at Mount St. Joseph University on November 6.
