PREVIEW: Muskingum Muskies

The Wilmington College women's basketball team looks to keep Saturday's loss to Earlham from becoming a losing streak as they travel to Muskingum 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Muskies will be looking to snap their three-game losing skid. (Game Notes)

"Muskingum is a good, veteran team with some freshmen playing important roles," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "They are team that has given us lot of problems over the last couple of years, especially at their place. They're a balanced team more than anything. Any player can have a big game. They don't have one thing you can take away to be successful."

The Muskies have two players averaging double figures, led by guard Tori Jarrett. The senior has reached double figures in three of the team's four contest en route to averaging a team-high 18.8 points. She is a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line in her last three games. Freshman forward Jasmine Goings is coming off the bench for 10.8 points and 5.5 rebounds. After averaging 15 points in the first two games of the season, she has totaled 13 in the last two.

Forward Megan Billick is leading the team with 5.8 rebounds, with three other players – Jarrett, Goings and Alexys Settles – all averaging 5.5 boards.

While Muskingum is getting production from its wing position, it's a position that Wilmington needs to have more production from.

"We need consistent play out of our wings," said Scheve. "We need players to understand their roles and perform their roles on a consistent basis."

Juniors Spencer Robles (Clyde, OH/Clyde) and Courtney Tucker (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore), along with freshman Brittaney Jefferson (Dayton, OH/Chaminade Julienne) need to be consistent options. All three have has their moments during the season. Robles, the team's best shooter, is averaging 7.6 points while shooting 48 percent from the field.

Wilmington is led by seniors Makenzie Wippel (Orient, OH/Westfall) and Haley Howard (Uhrichsville, OH/New Philadelphia) with 12.8 and 11.6 points, respectively.
