Offensive woes for women's basketball

BEREA – The Wilmington College women's basketball team couldn't get on track offensively Saturday, falling to Baldwin Wallace 55-29 at Ursprung Gymnasium in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

"We struggled to score the basketball all day long," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "BW played solid man to man defense, we had too many turnovers. Defensively, we did much of what we wanted to do."

It mark the lowest point total in the school's NCAA era, and it was Wilmington's lowest point total since an 86-29 loss to Rio Grande during the 1977-78 season.

Wilmington dropped its third straight game since becoming ranked, and in all three games, the Fightin' Quakers committed more than 20 turnovers.

Despite struggling on the offensive end, the Fightin' Quakers scored the first six points of the second half to pull to within four points. However, Wilmington managed just 10 points over the final 18:30.

Sophomore Mary Moyer (Martinsville, OH/Clinton-Massie) led the team with eight points on 4-of-8 shooting, while senior Courtney Tucker (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Wilmington (6-3 overall, 2-2 OAC) will take off for the holiday break, and return to the court 7:30 p.m. December 30. The Fightin' Quakers host Earlham in non-conference action.
