WOMENS PREVIEW: Marietta

The Wilmington College women's basketball team looks to put Wednesday's outing in their rearview mirror, and focus on getting a bye in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.

With five games remaining, the Fightin' Quakers are one game behind Capital for the fourth seed in the tournament – and the bye that accompanies such seeding.

Wilmington hosts a Marietta team, which if the tournament started today, wouldn't qualify for the eight-team tournament. Despite the struggles on the scoreboard, Marietta presents some challenges.

"They are very talented and deep," said Wilmington head coach Jerry Scheve. "They have a lot of different ways to score. All their post players can shoot the ball, they have some three-point shooters and they have some guards that can get to the basket. They are a real balanced team."

Senior forward Heather Booth is the only player averaging double figures for the Pioneers, scoring 10.3 points per game. Her 5.2 rebounds are second on the team. She is playing a team-high 22.7 minutes and shooting a team-high 48.5 percent from the field.

"Heather Boothe can really score the basketball," said Scheve. "You have to figure out a way to keep her under control at the risk of letting other people get a hot hand."

Senior Jessica Brogram leads the team with 5.6 rebounds and is second with 7.8 points, while freshman Brooke Borich is third with 7.0 points.
