Women's Basketball Continues OAC Slate at Marietta Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Saturday with a trip of Marietta College. Tip-off from Ban Johnson Arena is slated for 2 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Marietta. The Fightin' Quakers are an even 6-6 on the season and 2-3 in conference play after earning a 61-56 road win at Capital University on Wednesday. The Pioneers are 10-1 overall and 4-1 in conference competition after a 94-72 triumph over Muskingum University at home on Wednesday.

The Coaches: Wilmington is under the direction of second-year Head Coach Janel Blankespoor, who is in her fourth season with the program having been interim coach during the 2020-21 season and the program's top assistant the two years prior. The 2007 Otterbein College alumna spent stints at Mount Union and Earlham College before coming to Wilmington. Currently, Cassie Lastivka is leading the team with Blankespoor on maternity leave. Kole Vivian is in his fifth season as Marietta's head coach. He's led the Pioneers to their first NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament appearance in school history in 2018.

The Players: A trio of Quakers - Zahrya BaileyKenzie Campbell and Kennedy Lewis - score over eight points per game with Bailey leading the bunch at 10.5 per contest. Kyria Walker joins both Bailey and Lewis to grab at least four rebounds per game while Lewis and Haley Cook assisted on at least two baskets per contest. Marietta featured a balance scoring attack as five Pioneers - Olivia Gribble, Erin Hahn, Hannah Schill, Devin Hefner and Kelly Levering - score at least eight points a contest. Hahn grabs a team-best 7.1 boards per game.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 62.4, Marietta 70.1; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 62.7, Marietta 59.2; field goal percentage – Wilmington 38.9, Marietta 38.2; three-point percentage – Wilmington 28.6, Marietta 28.2; free throw percentage – Wilmington 61.8, Marietta 70.7; rebounding margin – Wilmington +0.2, Marietta +7.2; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.72, Marietta 1.00.
