Wilmington continued to cut into the lead, outscoring John Carroll 6-4 over the remainder of the period and trailed 17-15 after one quarter.

Wilmington struggled in the second quarter, only scoring seven points as John Carroll took advantage and grabbed a 33-22 lead at the half. The Quakers couldn't recover from their second quarter struggles. They would never push the lead below 10 points in the second half en route to their defeat.
