Women's Soccer Heads to Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team will travel to Baldwin Wallace University for Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a kickoff set for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace, the Fightin' Quakers are 8-5-1, 3-3-0 OAC after falling to Otterbein University 4-1 on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets are 8-8-1, 1-4-1 OAC after tying John Carroll 1-1.

The Coaches: Steve Spirk enters his 28th season as Wilmington's head women's soccer coach. Spirk, a 1982 alumnus, has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournaments, eight conference championships and over 300 victories during his tenure. A member of the Wilmington Athletics Hall of Fame, Spirk was a four-time All-American and holds several of the College's men's soccer records. Jim Wotjkun is in his third season as head women's soccer coach at Baldwin Wallace, he has produced records of 11-8-1 and 11-7-1 overall marks and advanced to the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament. 

The Players: Taoylor Huffman leads the Quakers in goals with six, she is followed closely by Maddie Scott with five goals. Lauren Galloway has started every game at goalkeeper for the Quakers and has recorded 80 saves with four shutouts. Kenna Poptic leads Baldwin Wallace in points with one goal and 10 assists, Kenna Stones leads the Yellow Jackets in goals with four. Emma Bruno is the predominant goalkeeper for Baldwin Wallace, she has recorded 69 saves and six shutouts. 

Series History: Wilmington is 20-7-2 against Baldwin Wallace since 1987, but the tide has turned in recent years as the record of the last 10 meetings is 2-6-2.

Conference Standings: The Quakers are currently in fifth in the OAC standings looking to qualify for the six team playoffs. Wilmington would clench a spot in the postseason with a win against Baldwin Wallace as well as a loss from Marietta College and the University of Mount Union.
