Women's Soccer Continues OAC Play at Ohio Northern

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team will travel to Ada, Ohio to face off against Ohio Northern University in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) competition on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Ohio Northern, the Fightin' Quakers are 7-3-1, 2-1-0 OAC after a 3-1 victory over Mount Union. The Polar Bears are 9-2-2, 3-0 OAC after winning at Muskingum 3-0.

The Coaches: Steve Spirk enters his 28th season as Wilmington's head women's soccer coach. Spirk, a 1982 alumnus, has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournaments, eight conference championships and over 300 victories during his tenure. A member of the Wilmington Athletics Hall of Fame, Spirk was a four-time All-American and holds several of the College's men's soccer records. Mark Batman is in his 16th season as head women's soccer coach at ONU. He has led the team to four straight appearances in the OAC finals game. Batman was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2017 after guiding Northern to a 20-2-2 overall record and an undefeated 9-0-0 mark in OAC action.

The Players: Taylor Huffman leads Wilmington in goals with five, she has also dished out three assists. Maddie Scott has also scored five goals and recorded one assist. Lauren Galloway has made 62 saves for the Quakers and only allowed six goals. Jenna Fuller leads the Polar Bears in goals with 12, she has also helped out on two assists. Meagan Grierson has started every game for ONU with 28 saves and 11 goals allowed.

Series History: Wilmington is 7-16-1 against ONU since 1994.
