SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's soccer team opens its 2019 season on the road at Thomas More University for a 7 p.m. contest.

The Teams: Wilmington and Thomas More. The Fightin' Quakers finished last year's campaign with an 8-9-0 overall record and are looking to improve on that this season. The Saints are 3-0-0 to start the season and have outscored opponents 9-1.

The Coaches: Steve Spirk enters his 28th season as Wilmington's head women's soccer coach. Spirk, a 1982 alumnus, has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournaments, eight conference championships and over 300 victories during his tenure. A member of the Wilmington Athletics Hall of Fame, Spirk was a four-time All-American and holds several of the College's men's soccer records. Marquis Walker is in his second year as head coach for the Saints after being an assistant coach at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York.

The Players: Madison Wiedeman, who started 16 games a season ago, returns looking to build on a two-goal, three-assists campaign in 2018. A trio of defenders – Abby Spirk, Haley Burge and Riley Allison, all return to what should be a stout Quaker defense. Olivia Nienaber leads the Saints in goals so far after scoring twice against Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.). Freshman Goalie Skylin Yates has been credited with two shutouts and six saves in the first three games for the Saints.

Series History: Wilmington is 6-3-1 in its last 10 meetings with Thomas More with the Quakers winning the last six. More information on the series history can be viewed above.
