Women's Soccer Takes on Defiance College

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team will host Defiance College on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Williams Stadium.

The Teams: Wilmington and Defiance, the Fightin' Quakers are 4-2-1 after defeating Transylvania 2-0 on Wednesday evening. The Yellow Jackets are 4-4-1 after taking a 10-0 victory against Andrews University.

The Coaches: Steve Spirk enters his 28th season as Wilmington's head women's soccer coach. Spirk, a 1982 alumnus, has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournaments, eight conference championships and over 300 victories during his tenure. A member of the Wilmington Athletics Hall of Fame, Spirk was a four-time All-American and holds several of the College's men's soccer records. BJ Pheasant is in his second year with the Yellow Jackets and first year as interim head coach. 

The Players: Freshman Maddie Scott leads Wilmington in goals with five, she has also given out one assist. Lauren Galloway has played in every game for the Quakers and has recorded 47 saves and three solo shutouts. Ally Ennekinghas scored five goals for Defiance as well as dished out two assists to lead the team in points. Madi Bowman has recorded 50 saves in goal as well as two solo shutouts. 

Series History: Wilmington is 7-0-0 against Defiance since 1994, the Quakers won the last meeting 2-0 at Defiance.
