Women's Soccer Places Five on All-Ohio Teams

DIVISION III ACADEMIC ALL-OHIO HONOREES

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team placed five individuals on the academic and athletic All-Ohio teams, the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association released on Wednesday.

Taylor Huffman and Mackenzie Weaver were both honored as Second Team Athletic All-Ohio. Huffman scored six goals for the Fightin' Quakers including two game-winning goals. She also dished out three assists to lead the Quakers in offensive points with 15. Weaver wass a stalwart on the Wilmington defensive unit that didn't allow a goal for a six-game stretch.

A trio of Quakers - Amy Johnson, Haley Burge and Abby Spirk - garnered Academic All-Ohio honors.

"We are very excited and proud of our players that received All-Ohio and Academic All-Ohio this season," Head Coach Steve Spirk said. "Mackenzie Weaver and Taylor Huffman both had break-out seasons onthe field and Amy Johnson, Haley Burge and Abby Spirk all helped lead the team both on the field and in the classroom."

Wilmington finished the season with a 9-8-1 record 4-5-0 in the OAC which saw the team's first appearance in the OAC Tournament since 2015.
