Women's Soccer Returns To Williams Stadium to Face Marietta College

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team will host Marietta College for Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Marietta, the Fightin' Quakers are 7-4-1, 2-2-0 OAC after a 2-0 loss to No.23 Ohio Northern on Wednesday. The Pioneers are 7-6-1, 1-3-0 OAC after a 3-0 loss to Capital. 

The Coaches: Steve Spirk enters his 28th season as Wilmington's head women's soccer coach. Spirk, a 1982 alumnus, has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournaments, eight conference championships and over 300 victories during his tenure. A member of the Wilmington Athletics Hall of Fame, Spirk was a four-time All-American and holds several of the College's men's soccer records. Sean Kaighin is in his first season as head women's soccer coach at Marietta. He is the ninth head coach in program history. Kaighin joined the program as an assistant coach before the 2018 season. 

The Players: Freshmen Taylor Huffman and Maddie Scott share the title of leading goal scorer for the Quakers with five goals each. Huffman has dished out three assists and Scott has recorded one. Lauren Galloway has recorded 69 saves and only eight goals allowed in her 11 starts as goalkeeper. Chloe Williams leads the Pioneers in goals with five. Katie Conkle has started four games and recorded 29 saves with 13 goals allowed. 

Series History: Wilmington is 15-6-2 against Marietta since 1987, the Quakers have a 9-2-2 record at home.

Breast Cancer Awareness Game: The Quakers will be wearing pink to support breast cancer awareness, a table will be available for donations.
