WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team will host Anderson University (Ind.) in its home opener for the 2019 season Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Anderson. The Fightin' Quakers dropped their opening game to Thomas More on the road and will look to rebound with a win at home.The Ravens are 1-0-0 after defeating St. Mary's College 2-1 where they out-shot their opponent 24-6.

The Coaches: Steve Spirk enters his 28th season as Wilmington's head women's soccer coach. Spirk, a 1982 alumnus, has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournaments, eight conference championships and over 300 victories during his tenure. A member of the Wilmington Athletics Hall of Fame, Spirk was a four-time All-American and holds several of the College's men's soccer records. Jennifer Myhre is in her ninth season as head women's soccer coach for the Ravens and was HCAC coach of the year in 2017.

The Players: Lauren Gallaway managed five saves in the Quakers' previous contest and is expected to start against the Ravens. Madison Wiedeman scored two goals and recorded three assists for the Quakers in 2018 and will be looking to build on these stats moving forward. Morgan Reed took four shots in the Ravens' season opener with one finding the back of the net while Betsy Balish also scored with two shots.
