WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball opens Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play at Heidelberg University on Saturday. Tip-off from Seiberling Gymnasium is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. The Quakers enter the game with a 3-2 record after a 82-68 victory over Earlham College in the Quaker Bowl Rivalry game on Monday evening. The Student Princes are 2-3 and 0-1 in OAC play after a 67-55 loss to preseason favorite Baldwin Wallace University on Monday.
The Coaches: Jerry Scheve is in his 30th season as head coach of the Wilmington women's basketball program. Scheve, who guided the Quakers to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2004, has amassed over 500 career victories. Morgan Harrigan, a 2009 Heidelberg graduate, enters her seventh season as her alma mater's head coach.
The Players: A quartet of Quakers – McKayla Binkley, Hannah Binkley, Kelly Noll and Kenned Lewis – all score in double figures with McKayla Binkley leading the bunch at 18.4 points per game. Noll, who scores 11.4 points per game, leads the squad in rebounding at 6.6 boards per contest while Zahrya Bailey dishes out a team-best 3.8 assists per game. Heidelberg is led by Brooke Beamer's 17.2 points per game while Maddy Crawford averages a double-double with 10.4 points and 11.4 rebounds a contest.
