Women's Basketball Opens New Year at Marietta on Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's basketball opens the New Year with an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) road trip to Ban Johnson Arena and Marietta College on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Marietta. The Quakers enter the game with a 6-4 overall record and a 2-1 OAC mark. Wilmington most recently split a pair of games at the Charles B. Zimmerman / Kiwanis Classic, falling 85-68 to host Wittenberg University and defeating Westminster College (Missouri) 90-52. The Pioneers are 4-6 overall and also split a tournament, beating North Carolina Wesleyan 85-74 and losing to Carnegie Mellon University 81-66. Marietta is winless (0-3) in conference competition.

The Coaches: Jerry Scheve is in his 30th season as head coach of the Wilmington women's basketball program. Scheve, who guided the Quakers to the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2004, has amassed over 500 career victories. Kole Vivian is in his eighth season as the Marietta sidelines including four as the program's top assistant and four as head coach.

The Players: A trio of Quakers – McKayla Binkley, Hannah Binkley and Kennedy Lewis – all score in double figures including McKayla Binkley's 17.3 points per game on over 55 percent shooting from the field. She's also the team's leading rebounder at 7.1 boards per contest. Kennedy Lewis, who scores 10.9 points per game, combines with Zahrya Bailey to dish out 6.3 assists per game. Two Pioneers – Alexis Enochs and Devin Hefner – average double figures in scoring. Marlo Taylor is Marietta's top rebounder at 5.5 boards per contest.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 85.1, Marietta 62.6; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 72.6, Marietta 65.7; field goal percentage – Wilmington 44.2, Marietta 37.0; three-point percentage – Wilmington 35.1, Marietta 23.6; free throw percentage – Wilmington 69.8, Marietta 71.7; rebounds per game – Wilmington 41.3, Marietta 38.7; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 0.92, Marietta 0.70.

Tops in the OAC: McKayla Binkley leads the OAC in scoring at 17.3 points per game.

Scoring Offense: The Quakers are fifth in the country in scoring offense at 85.1 points per game.
