Brooks, Heys Earn All-OAC Honors on Day One of OAC Outdoor Championships

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Simon Heys and Brett Brooks earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) to highlight the Wilmington College men's track & field team on day one of the OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of Mount Union on Thursday.

Heys finished runner-up to John Carroll University's Alex Phillip, the NCAA Division III record holder in the event, with a time of 30:59.21 in the 10,000-meter run. It's the second consecutive All-Conference honor for the Heys in the event, who was joined by teammates Noah Tobin (31:15.75), Gabe Moore (34:26.37) and Tate Yoder in the race. Tobin missed All-OAC honors by just over a dozen seconds as Otterbein University's John Nice was third.

Brooks, a freshman, heaved the discus 148 3" for a third-place finish in his first OAC Outdoor Championships. Nathan Borgan (139' 10") and Justin Shuga (139' 4") scored the team points with sixth and seventh-place finishes respectively while JJ Durr, Nate Marcum and Perry Kingrey also competed in the event.

Dane Klosterman qualified for the finals in both the 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles with times of 15.68 seconds and 56.39 seconds respectively.

As a team, the Quakers stand in a tie for fifth place with 24 points, eight points clear of seventh-place Baldwin Wallace University. The host Purple Raiders lead the field with 75 points after day one.

Day two of competition begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
