Distance Duo of Heys and Tobin Travel to NC State for the Infamous Raleigh Relays

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track & field team is sending two distance runners to compete at the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State on Thursday, March 23rd. 

The Schedule: The three-day event will only feature the Quakers on day one, as the first heat of the 5,000-meter run is schedule to start at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

The Coach: Ron Combs continues his 25th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

The Competitors: Junior Noah Tobin and Senior Simon Heys will compete in two seperate heats of the 5,000-meter run. The duo is coming fresh off of a successful indoor season and a cross country season that saw both individuals qualify for the DIII National Championships. Tobin is in the first heat and is slated to start around 6:30 PM. The junior has already set new personal bests in the 5,000-meter run this season, after running 14:34 early in the indoor season and placing fourth in the event at the Ohio Atheltic Conference (OAC) Indoor Championships. Heys is coming in hot, after his best indoor season to date, and is entered in the seventh heat scheduled for 8:00 PM. The senior set a personal best in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:08, as well as adding a first place finish in the event at the OAC Indoor Championships and capping off the indoor season with a fifth place All-American finish at the DIII Indoor National Championships.
