Durr Sets Program Mark in Hammer Throw at Outdoor All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships

RESULTS

DELAWARE, Ohio - JJ Durr set the Wilmington College men's track & field record in the hammer throw at the Outdoor All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday.

Durr won the event with a heave of 197' 2", breaking the old school record 193' 7" set by Mason Metts just shy of a decade ago. Three other Quakers also scored in the hammer throw as Nathan Borgan finished second (185' 10"), Nate Marcum was fifth (173' 4') and Andrew Pacifico was sixth (171' 7"). Mike Soltis rounded out the field events with a sixth-place hurl of 45' 3.75".

In track events, Wilmington had two top-three finishers in the 5,000-meter run as Noah Tobin won the race by crossing the finish line in 15:24.17. Teammate Tate Yoder finished roughly four seconds behind (15:28.57) in third place. Dane Klosterman earned the team points in two hurdle events, finishing fifth in both the 110-meter hurdles (15.73 seconds) and the 400-meter hurdles (56.62 seconds). Klosterman and Yoder teamed up with Jalaun Covington and Samuel Alexander to finish eighth in the 4-x-400-meter run with a time of 3:37.25.

As a team, the Quakers tallied 53 points to in seventh place, one spot ahead of the host Battling Bishops. Denison University won the meet with 153.5 points.

Wilmington will compete at both the Jesse Owens Invitational (Friday) and the Mount St. Joseph Invitational (Saturday) next weekend.
