Men's Track & Field Sets Three Meet Records at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track & field team set three meet record in a third-place finish at the Muskingum Invitational on Thursday.

The Quakers tallied 107.5 points and placed just behind the runner-up and host Fighting Muskies, who finished with 119 points. West Liberty University won the meet with 270 points while Marietta College (70 points), Wheeling University (32.5 points) and Otterbein University (21 points) rounded out the field.

In field events, Brayden Jones represented the Quakers in the pole vault by placing third (11' 3.75") while the Quaker duo of Sam Eastes and Joel O'Brien joined Jones to score points in the javelin. Eastes's heave of 151' 9" was good for a runner-up finish while O'Brien placed fourth (123' 1") and Jones eighth (102' 4"). 

The WC throws group, which has scored many points for the team in recent years, showed well again on Thursday as the Quakers went 1-2-3-4 in the hammer throw. JJ Durr (188' 6") won the event and set a meet record in the process while teammates Nathan Borgan (185' 9"), Andrew Pacifico (178' 2") and Nate Marcum (172' 3") were right behind. Brett Brooks claimed victory in the discus with a meet-record heave of 153' 11" and also placed third in the shot put (47' 11.75"). Perry Kingrey and Mike Soltis also scored WC points by placing eight in the discus and fifth in the shot put respectively.

In track events, Tate Yoder set a meet record in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:06.15 that won the event. He also competed in the 800-meter run and placed fifth by crossing the finish line in 2:04.45. Dane Klosterman also scored the Quakers points in two events, taking fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (17.33 seconds) and fifth in the 200-meter dash (23.80 seconds). Other scoring finished for WC included Gabe Moore's runner-up time of 16:32.41 in the 5,000-meter run and Jaluan Covington's seventh-place effort of 53.40 seconds in the 400-meter run.

Wilmington will send two individuals - Simon Heys and Noah Tobin - to run in the 10,000-meter run at the Lee Flames Invitational in Cleveland, Tennessee, tomorrow (Friday) evening.
