Borgan Moves Into Nationals Field in the Hammer Throw

NAPERVILLE, Illinois - Nathan Borgan took advance of the Carius/Gregory Invitational, one of the last chance meets, to improve his position nationally in the hammer throw. On the campus of North Central College on Thursday, Borgan moved himself into the field for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Borgan entered the meet two spots out of the nationals field, but produced a season-best heave of 193' 1", which currently sits 10th in all of NCAA Division III. The All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree in the hammer throw finished runner-up in the event, which was won by Joseph White of Carthage College. Nate Marcum (175' 4") and Andrew Pacifico (175' 2") also competed in the event, placing seventh and eighth respectively.

Brady Vilvens joined Borgan in improving his position for the national meet as the Wilmington High School alumnus cleared 6' 8.25" to move into the top 15 in the country. The OAC runner-up in the event also placed second at the meet at North Central.

Freshman Brett Brooks competed in both the discus and the shot put with his highest finish being seventh in the discus with a heave of 141' 7". Mike Soltis (49' 2.5") and Justin Shuga (46' 6.75") took eighth and 10th respectively in the shot put to lead the Quakers.

On the track, Noah Tobin took runner-up in the steeplechase in his first time competing in the race. The junior crossed the finish line in 9:28.68.
