WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's track & field team has two individuals competing at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted at the CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 10-11.

The Schedule: The two-day event will begin with the weight throw at 11 a.m. on Friday. The men's 5,000-meter run is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. on Friday with the men's 3,000-meter run slated for 5:40 p.m. on Saturday.

The Coach: Ron Combs continues his 25th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

The Competitors: Sophomore JJ Durr and senior Simon Heys will be competing in the championships. Durr will compete in the weight throw on Friday morning. The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) champion in the event won the Polar Bear Final qualifier with a season-best heave of 61' 3.5". That mark is 14th best in the country and was less than an inch away from Hank Benedict's school record from 2001. Heys, the program record holder in both the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs, is seeded 17th (8:11.18) and 10th (14:08.53) in the events, respectively. At the OAC Indoor Championships, Heys claimed the title in the 5,000-meter run.
