Volleyball Swept At Ohio Christian

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's volleyball team nearly won the first set at Ohio Christian University, but the Trailblazers won the set 27-25 and took the match in straight sets (27-25, 25-18, 25-22) on Saturday.

Wilmington did hit better than Ohio Christian in the first set (.189 to .143), but the Trailblazers tallied 14 kills to the Quakers' 10 and took the set. Offensively, the visitors couldn't maintain the offensive numbers in the last two sets.

For the first time this season, Mariella Szrom led Wilmington with seven kills and a .500 attack percentage. Meghan Koch chipped in four kills and hit a .286 clip. The trio of Karley Schlensker, Taylor McCuistion and Jillian Wesco all record double-digit dig performances with Schlensker leading the way with 21. Summer Wilbur dished out 20 assists

Cierra Dunn was the lone individual to record over 10 kills with 13 for Ohio Christian. Katie Bush dished out 29 assists and recorded 10 digs while defensive specialist Cayla Allen added 18 digs.

In total, Ohio Christian tallied 40 kills to Wilmington's 23. The Trail Blazers also won the serve and pass game with 14 aces.

The Quakers return to action against rival Earlham College for a Quaker Bowl Rivalry match on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
