Offensive Struggles Continue in Volleyball's Straight-Set Loss to Baldwin Wallace

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College volleyball team struggled to find any offensive rhythm in a 25-12, 25-19, 25-8 loss to Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The win improves the Yellow Jackets to 21-5 overall and 3-4 in the OAC while the loss drops the Fightin' Quakers to 3-22 overall and 0-7 in conference competition.

Baldwin Wallace won 12 of the first 14 points to take a commanding lead in set one. Wilmington mustered just one kill in the set, and it came with the score 24-10 off a roll shot from Taylor McCuistion. The Yellow Jackets hit a .345 clips in set one.

The visitors took a big lead in set two, but this time, the hosts battled back from a 20-10 deficit using a long McCuistion service run that featured three straight aces. Wilmington got within 21-16, but Baldwin Wallace closed out the set. Set three proved similar to set one as the Yellow Jackets left Hermann Court with a straight-set victory.

Baldwin Wallace hit a .294 attack percentage with 45 kills in the match while Wilmington tallied 10 kills and 18 errors for a -.086 attack percentage.

McCuistion had four kills for the Quakers while Jillian Wesco, Morgan Loomis and Meghan Koch all had two kills. Karley Schlensker had 14 digs while Mariella Szrom chipped in three blocks.

Ivy Early led Baldwin Wallace with nine kills while Alexis Garrett had eight kills and a .467 attack percentage. Kathleen Egan dished out 31 assists while Morgan Martin had 15 digs.

Wilmington begins its last week of the regular season by traveling to Capital University on Tuesday evening.
