WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team concludes its 2019 season with a Senior Day match against John Carroll University at Herman Court on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll (JCU). The Fightin' Quakers are 3-23 overall and in search of their first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory after a straight-set loss at Capital University on Tuesday evening. The Blue Streaks are 18-10 on the season and 2-6 in conference play after a five-set victory over Heidelberg University at home on Tuesday.

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived as Andy Riesenberg, an experienced coach at the NCAA Division I, II, III and club levels, enters his first season leading the program in 2019. The Mount St. Joseph University alumnus has spent time at Southern Illinois University, Xavier University and Ohio University as an assistant coach as well as a stint as head coach at NCAA Division II institution Lake Erie College. Michele Benoit is in her fourth season as JCU's head volleyball coach. She previously spent time as head coach at Haverford College, the University of Wisconsin Parkside and Mount St Joseph University.

The Players: Wilmington offensively relies on the duo of Jillian Wesco (164 kills) and Taylor McCuistion (156 kills) as the two have combined for over 54 percent of the team's kills. Setter Summer Wilbur averaged 5.68 assists per set while Karley Schlensker averages 5.06 digs per set in the back row, good for third-best in the OAC. Mariella Szrom is the squad's leading blocker with 36 on the year. A trio of Blue Streaks - Casi Calamunci, Brooke Hjerpe and Sara Calabrese - all average over 2.50 kills per set for JCU. Aly Bartolone dishs out 7.44 assists per set while Anna Coughlin digs up nealry five attack attempts per set. Carleen Ellerbruch averages over half a block per set. 

Series History: Since the 2008 season, Wilmington is 2-9 against JCU, though the Quakers did claim a four-set win in the season finale in 2018. More information can be viewed by visiting the link above.
