Six Men's Soccer Players Earn Academic All-District Honors

MEN'S SOCCER ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's soccer team had six individuals earn Academic All-District honors as the College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA) announced the honorees on Tuesday, Nov. 15. 

Alfie Harris, Nick In'tZand, Casey Miller, Yusef Muqtadir, Grant Murray, Joe Roberts garnered Academic All-District honors and will be on the ballot for a chance at becoming an Academic All-American. In order to qualify for nomination for Academic All-District, student-athletes must meet the following qualifications:

  • Sophomore athletically or higher
  • 3.50 cumulative grade point average or higher
  • Been enrolled at the institution for at least one calendar year
  • Starter or key reserve

Harris, a sophomore political science & English double major from North Molton, England, started in 19 games as a midfielder and scored four goals and two assists on the season. One of those goals was in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament victory over The University of Mount Union.

In'tZand, a sophomore sport management major from Rhazuns, Switzerland, appeared and started in 20 games as a member of the defensive unit that allowed 1.23 goals per game. In'tZand also got involved offensively late in the year, scoring a goal of 4-of-5 games to finish the season.

Miller, a senior business administration & sport management double major from Centerville, appeared and started in all 21 games as a midfielder. The All-OAC honoree was tied for third on the team with 13 points having netted five goals and dished out three assists.

Muqtadir, a senior business administration & accounting double major from Dayton, started all 21 games as a forward. The multiple time All-OAC honoree scored six goals, second on the squad, and tallied 13 points.

Murray, a senior exercise science major from Cincinnati, earned All-OAC recognition as a midfielder. He started in 20 games and dished out a team-high seven assists including two in OAC Tournament games along with netting four goals.

Roberts, a business administration major from Columbus, served as a reserve defender appearing in 16 games. He played a part in WC's goals-against average.

Wilmington, under the direction of first-year Head Coach Cory Bucur, finished the season 12-6-3 overall and 5-2-2 in conference games. The Quakers, as the No. 4 seed, made a run to the OAC Tournament title game for the first time since 2006.
