GAME PROGRAM

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's soccer team opens its 2022 campaign with a game against DePauw University on Thursday evening. Kickoff from Williams Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Centre. The Fightin' Quakers enter the contest with an 0-1-0 record after falling to DePauw University 3-1 in the season opener on Thursday evening. The Colonels are also 0-1-0 on the year after falling to fellow Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) member, No. 24 Otterbein University, 4-1 on the road on Thursday.

The Coaches: Wilmington is led by first-year Head Coach Cory Bucur, who came to WC from Defiance College. Bucur led the Yellow Jackets to their best season in over a decade in the fall of 2021 as DC went 11-11-1, upset Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament before coming a penalty shootout victory away from appearing in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. Jeb Burch, a 1994 graduate of Centre, has been the head coach at his alma mater since the 2002 season. He's led the Colonels to 226 victories during that stretch.

The Players: Yusef Muqtadir scored the lone goal for Wilmington in the defeat against DePauw on Thursday, doing so on a free kick. Elorm Dogbey, Michael Owusu and Brady Vilvens all fired two shots for the Quakers while Gabriel Swaisgood got his first start in net, tallying five saves in the defeat. For Centre, Drew Davidson scored the goal against Otterbein while Ethan Noel assisted.

Series History: Wilmington is 2-4-1 against Centre since the 1996 season. The Quakers' last victory over the Colonels came on Sept. 15, 2007 on a game-winning goal from current WC Women's Soccer Head Coach Nick Kinder.
