Men's Soccer Faces First Conference Test Saturday Against John Carroll

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's soccer team ended non-conference play with a 5-3-1 record. Ohio Athletic Conference play begins on the road with a match against the John Carroll University Blue Streaks who sport an identical 5-3-1 non-conference record. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Don Shula Stadium on Saturday.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll. Wilmington fell 2-1 to No. 16-ranked Denison University on Saturday despite a 20-8 advantage in shots. John Carroll defeated Penn State Behrend 1-0 to finish its non-conference slate on Wednesday

The Coaches: Wilmington is led by first-year Head Coach Cory Bucur, who came to WC from Defiance College. Bucur led the Yellow Jackets to their best season in over a decade in the fall of 2021 as DC went 11-11-1, upset Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament before coming a penalty shootout victory away from appearing in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. Dejan Mladenovic enters his second season as Head Coach of John Carroll Men's Soccer for the 2022-23 academic year. Mladenovic enters his 17th season as a member of the John Carroll Men's Soccer coaching staff for the 2021-22 school year. During his first season as head coach, the Blue Streaks enjoyed a historic year. During the 2021 campaign, the Blue Streaks won the OAC Tournament Championship and reached the NCAA Sweet 16 for just the second time in program history.

The Players: Elorm Dogbey has led the charge offensively for the Quakers having scored six goals and dishing out two assists for 14 points on the season. Yusef Muqtadir has fired 21 shots on the season. The Blue Streak offense is led by Nicholas Felician and Jack Foht who have each scored three goals this season.
