WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's soccer team concludes a stretch of four games in a week on Wednesday evening when Defiance College comes to Williams Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Teams: Wilmington and Defiance. The Fightin' Quakers enter the contest 2-1-0 after a road win at Wittenberg University on Labor Day by a score of 2-0. The Yellow Jackets are 0-0-1 overall after a 1-1 draw with Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) member Heidelberg University.

The Coaches: Wilmington is led by first-year Head Coach Cory Bucur, who came to WC from Defiance College. Bucur led the Yellow Jackets to their best season in over a decade in the fall of 2021 as DC went 11-11-1, upset Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament before coming a penalty shootout victory away from appearing in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. Josh Lubich, a 2018 graduate of Hiram College, is in his first season as Defiance's head coach after spending the previous year as an assistant coach.

The Players: Alfie Harris, who scored both goals in Wilmington's win at Wittenberg, leads the Quakers offensively while Casey Miller, Yusef Muqtadir and Michael Owusu have also found the back of the net for WC. Thomas Grimes has started the Quakers' last two games in goal and has 16 saves to go along with a .941 save percentage and a goals-against average of 0.50. Jeremy Jimenez scored Defiance's lone goal of the season aginst Heidelberg while Orry Killam tallied two saves in net in the draw.

Coaching Connection: WC Head Coach Cory Bucur will be coaching against his former team as well as former assistant coach in the game.
