WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Wilmington College men's soccer senior Michael Owusu is this week's Midstream Lighting Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. 

Owusu, a fifth-year senior defensive back, anchored a Fightin' Quaker defense that didn't allow a goal on the week as WC tied Otterbein University 0-0 and beat Marietta College 2-0. The Wilmington defense allowed just six shots on goal in the two contests.

"Mike fully deserves this honor as he has been a phenomenal leader all season and his play has matched that leadership," Head Coach Cory Bucur said. I'm very happy for him, but I think he'd be happier with two more wins this week!"

Wilmington (8-2-4, 3-1-1 OAC) currently sits tied for third in the conference standings with four games to play. The Quakers have contest at Ohio Northern University, which is atop the table, on Wednesday and The University of Mount Union, which is also tied for third, on Saturday.
