WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's soccer team looks for its second consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory when the Fightin' Quakers head to Berea, Ohio, for a 2 p.m. contest with Baldwin Wallace University. 

The Teams: Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace (BW). The Quakers enter the matchup with a 6-4-1 overall record including a 1-1-0 mark in OAC competition after a 2-1 victory over Capital University at home on Wednesday evening. The Yellow Jackets are 9-1-2 on the season, but 0-1-1 in OAC play having most recently battled The University of Mount Union to a scoreless draw. BW went 8-0-1 in the non-conference portion of its schedule, but only Geneva College, which the Yellow Jackets tied 0-0, sports a record over .500. Additionally, the combined record of BW's non-conference opponents stands at 24-61-26 (.333). 

The Coaches: Wilmington is led by first-year Head Coach Cory Bucur, who came to WC from Defiance College. Bucur led the Yellow Jackets to their best season in over a decade in the fall of 2021 as DC went 11-11-1, upset Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament before coming a penalty shootout victory away from appearing in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. Reid Ayers, the longest tenured coach in the OAC, is in his 21st season lead BW's men's soccer program. 

The Players: Elorm Dogbey, the former OAC Offensive Player of the Year, leads Wilmington in scoring with six goals and two assists for a total of 14 points. Casey Miller, who scored in WC's win over Capital, has netted three goals and assisted on three others while Alfie Harris has also scored three goals. Goalkeeper Thomas Grimes has a goals against average of 0.88 in eight starts. Nick Surowicz leads BW with 10 goals and three assists for a total of 23 points. Max Yakym has netted five goals for the Yellow Jackets.

Series History: Wilmington is 16-6-3 against BW since the 1999 season. The Quakers won the last meeting in Berea, 2-1 on Oct. 23, 2021. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
