LEXINGTON, Kentucky - The 2022 Wilmington College volleyball team earned United States Marine Corps (USMC)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, announced by the AVCA on July 13.
The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average (GPA) of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. During the 2022-23 academic year, the WC volleyball program boasted a 3.58 cumulative GPA. The Quakers were 1-of-229 NCAA Division III institutions to earn the award. Additionally, the 2022 squad marks the second consecutive year the program has received such recognition as the 2021 team earned the award as well.
The Quakers are slated to begin their 2023 campaign at the Dension University Tournament on Sept. 1-2.
