Volleyball Travels to Ohio Northern for Wednesday Evening Contest

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College volleyball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Wednesday with a trip to Ohio Northern University on Wednesday. First serve from the ONU Sports Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Ohio Northern. The Fightin' Quakers enter the match with an 8-15 overall record after a four-set loss to Marietta College on Friday evening. The Polar Bears are 14-6 overall and 4-1 in OAC matches after a four-set defeat at John Carroll University on Saturday. The defeat marks the first time ONU has fallen to the Blue Streaks in over two decades.

The Coaches: A new era of Wilmington volleyball has arrived Sophie Windover, a former collegiate player and assistant at Heidelberg University, enters her second season leading the program. She helped guide the Student Princes to a 21-8 record and an appearance in the AVCA Top 25 Poll. Katie Kuhn, a 2009 ONU alumna and OAC Co-Player of the Year, is in her third season as the program's head coach. She has a 49-15 overall record.

The Players: Four Quakers - Sofia Thomas, Sydney Geibel, Joy Bebe and Sarah Brown - average over 1.60 kills per set with Thomas, who is coming off a 17-kill performance against Marietta, leading the way with 2.51 kills per set. Bebe is joined by Bailey Pohlman to have tallied 96 blocks to date. Setter Andie Dolven has assisted on 604 kills for an average of 7.65 per set while libero Blake O'Brien averages 6.35 digs per set. ONU features a balanced offensive attack as five Polar Bears put down over two kills per set. Erin Wagner averages 3.15 kills per set while the setting duo of Grace Conrad and Caroline Hensley assist on neary 15 ONU kills per set.

Digs Per Set Nationally: Libero Blake O'Brien is second in NCAA Division III in digs per set.
